November 2009
It's that time of year when the leaves have fallen from the trees, the days have drawn in, it gets colder, and the nights are long. Winter is almost on us and the Autumn programme is almost at it's end. Despair not, the Winter programme has been produced and is attached. I'll keep this newsletter short so you can look through the programme.

Membership Secretary
As said last month's newsletter, we are still looking for someone to take over the role of Membership Secretary. This role is a very important one to the running of the group and we really need someone to volunteer to take on the role. The role involves welcoming new members to the group and maintaining members' contact details. If you think you may be interested, please contact either me on surgchairperson@yahoo.co.uk or Carolyn on surg.membership@surreyyoungwalkers.org.uk.
Winter 2009-2010 programme
There are a good variety of walks with at least two walks on each weekend and a large number of socials, including ice skating at Hampton Court, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, a Classical Music Evening (which requires booking by 12th January, the IVC Barn dance and several pub nights across Surrey, London and East Hampshire.
Please also note that the programme starts from next weekend and that there are two walks on that weren't on the overlap from the Autumn programme.
I'd just like to say thank you to everyone involved in putting the programme together and to those leading walks and holding social events in the next three months. It's good to see people new helping out with the group and there are some new people leading walks and hosting socials.
SURG Christmas Party
This is now fully booked but, if you are interested in attending, please contact Paul at paul3040@yahoo.co.uk to find out if there are any last minute cancellations.
Website Password
Several people have emailed to ask for the password to the members' area of the website. If you have received the programme, the username and password can be found on the front page.
Next Programme
If you're thinking you might like to put on a walk or a social in the Spring programme, the next Walk and Social Planning Evening is at the Running Horse pub in Leatherhead on Saturday 9th January, details in the programme. Even if you've not led a walk before or arranged a social, come along anyway, you can always co-lead or co-host with someone more experienced to help you out.
Until next time, wishing you all a Happy Christmas from the SURG Committee.
Hopefully see you on a walk or at a social soon.
Chris
