Meeting point: Woldingham Station
This linear walk starts at Woldingham Station, going through Marden Park and Marden Park Woods and then joining the North Downs Way. It follows the North Downs Way passing by Godstone Vineyard and eventually reaching the Caterham Viewpoint where we will stop for a packed lunch. The walk then continues onto the pretty village of Godstone and continues past Glebe Water. We will then join the Greensand Way following it through farmland until reaching the Barley Mow Pub where we will stop for a drink. We then leave the Greensand Way, going past St Peters Church and going through Tandridge Golf Course to then arrive in Old Oxted. We then walk through Old Oxted passing a weir to the Oxted Mill and then onto Oxted Station where the walk ends.
There is parking at Woldingham Station which cost £5.20 on a Saturday for the day and there are also parking in Woldingham Car Park, CR3 7LT which is £2.00 for the day - this is on the way to the station so is about a 2 minute walk away. There is also limited free parking on Church Road which is next to the Station where there are no yellow lines. There is also the option of parking in Oxted where the walk will in the Ellice Road car park (RH8 0PY) which is usually free on a saturday and then getting the train from Oxted to Woldingham for the start of the walk. The 10.24 train from Oxted to Woldingham will get in for 10.30am. The cost of an adult return from Oxted to Woldingham is £3.50. There are trains every 30 minutes from Clapham Junction and London Victoria to Woldingham and trains in the afternoon from Oxted to Woldingham are every 30 minutes for people parking choosing to park at Woldingham.
Easy Walks are for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty, a specific health problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.
Leisurely Walks are for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths.
Moderate Walks are for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm waterproof clothing are highly recommended.
Strenuous Walks are for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rought country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness are advised to contact the walk leader in advance.
Non-members are welcome to join us for 3 "trial" walks before deciding to join us. You don't need to book in advance - just turn up on the day.
All our walks are graded to give you an idea of what each one will be like. If you're unsure of your fitness level, try a short, easy walk first. It's better to find a walk too easy than to make yourself miserable and exhausted.
All our walks are led by SYW members. Please follow their instructions, don't walk ahead of them, and let them know if you decide to leave the walk before the end.
